About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Server Engineer with a proven track record of leading complex migrations to Microsoft 365. In this role, you will not only be responsible for the health and security of our on-premises server infrastructure but will serve as the technical lead and architect for our upcoming migration from Exchange/File Servers to the Microsoft 365 Cloud. You will bridge the gap between legacy on-premises environments and modern cloud solutions, ensuring a seamless, secure, and efficient transition for the entire organization. Contract: 1 Year Location: Bangsar South, KL Hours:11:30 PMMYT - 9:00 AMMYT Shift (Canada Time Zone ) Key Responsibilities 1. M365 Migration Leadership (Primary Focus) Lead End-to-End Migration: Architect, plan, and execute the migration of on-premises workloads (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive) to Microsoft 365. Hybrid Configuration: Design and implement a hybrid Exchange environment, configure Azure AD Connect, and manage directory synchronization. Data Migration: Utilize migration tools (such as BitTitan MigrationWiz, Quest, or native Microsoft tools) to migrate mailboxes, archives, and file shares with zero data loss. Cutover Management: Plan and execute complex cutover weekends, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Tenant Configuration: Configure M365 tenant policies, security/compliance center settings, and Information Protection. 2. Server Engineering & Administration Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain on-premises Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. Virtualization: Administer VMware or Hyper-V environments, managing virtual machines, clusters, and storage. File Services: Manage file servers and plan the strategic migration of data to SharePoint Online/OneDrive. Security & Compliance: Harden server configurations, apply patches, manage firewalls, and ensure compliance with industry standards. 3. Troubleshooting & Optimization Act as the Level 3 escalation point for complex server and M365 issues. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot migration bottlenecks, and optimize network traffic for cloud connectivity. Maintain documentation for server builds, migration runbooks, and hybrid configurations. Required Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of experience in Server Engineering/Administration. Migration Expertise: Must have led at least one full-scale migration from on-premises Exchange/File Servers to Microsoft 365. Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Security & Compliance). Strong knowledge of Exchange Server (2013/2016/2019) and hybrid configurations. Expert knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, and Group Policy. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MS-100, MS-101, AZ-800, or Exchange Hybrid). Experience with Intune and modern endpoint management. Knowledge of SD-WAN or network optimization for cloud traffic. Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, CommVault) as they relate to migration.
