More details as below Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Instrumentation and Electrical Panel Design. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical subject matter expert for electrical & Instrumentation panel (cabinet) design, ensuring full compliance with relevant Malaysian electrical standards and best engineering practices. Experience in Automation and control system panel design for Data Centres will be considered a significant advantage. This role involves developing the cabinet design specifications, typical drawings, regular travel to vendor and panel manufacturing sites to oversee production quality, progress, and adherence to design specifications. The position is open to candidates based in Malaysia, India, Singapore or Australia. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert on electrical panel and instrumentation design, providing technical guidance to internal teams and external vendors. Design & Engineering: Develop, review, and approve detailed designs and drawings for electrical and instrumentation systems panels, complying to customer specification and ensuring compliance with Malaysian (and relevant international) electrical standards. Electrical and Instrumentation panels include PLC System cabinets, Network cabinets, Instrument (IiOT) Marshalling, Relay and annunciator panels and similar control panels for Data Centre industry Participate and input into BM design and discussions. To submit sample materials and calibration certificates to relevant consultants for approval. Standard Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of, and ensure all designs adhere to, MS IEC, and other applicable standards (e.g.MS IEC 60038:2006 for voltage and frequency, IEE wiring regulations etc). Customer interface: Close collaboration including attending regular design review meetings with customer design team and ensure design compliance, timely submission/revision, review / approval of drawing by client Quality and Detailed design: Close collaboration with detailed designed team in India (Mumbai) and uphold highest level of quality on design drawings and ensure timely submission/revision and review/approved by client Vendor Oversight: Liaise with panel manufacturers to ensure correct interpretation and execution of panel designs/drawing; provide clarifications and resolve technical queries as needed. Conduct site visits to panel manufacturing works (in Malaysia) to monitor fabrication, assembly, wiring, and testing of panels, ensuring conformity to design, quality benchmarks, and project timelines Site Installation & Commissioning: Mobilise to Malaysia site, Support the site team in the construction & commissioning phase and provide technical leadership on the panel design including interface to customer Lead/manage the commissioning process, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for all systems. Project Management: Coordinate with project managers, procurement teams, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of panels and resolve any issues that may arise during manufacture or delivery and help Project manager on scope changes and risk management Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports and data Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance panel design, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies. Key Requirements Bachelor&aposs degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Around 15 years' experience in electrical engineering with a strong emphasis on instrumentation and electrical panel design. Prior experience in Control & Automation panel design for Data Centres is highly advantageous. Professional Electrical certification complying to Malaysian electrical standards is required Extensive knowledge of Malaysian electrical regulations, including MS IEC standards, and relevant international standards Proven track record designing and overseeing manufacture of PLC control cabinets, Instrument Marshalling and electrical panels for Data Centre industry Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings (AutoCAD or equivalent software). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges on manufacturing sites. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of Malay is a plus but not mandatory. Willingness and ability to travel frequently to vendor/manufacturer premises in Malaysia and potentially across the region. Based in, or able to relocate to, Malaysia, India, Singapore, or Australia. Preferred Attributes Experience with integration of smart instrumentation, PLC panels, and industrial automation systems. Familiarity with Construction Documentation & Quality management tools like CxAlloy, Procore etc Working in live electrical environment with experience in permit to work.
