- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Analytical Chemistry services across SMEP Production Assets, ensuring technical integrity and operational reliability.
- Implement and manage the “Ensure Quality Product (EQP)” process to guarantee that SMEP products consistently meet specification and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the Production Chemistry Laboratory, ensuring full compliance with MS ISO 17025 and relevant local regulations through robust Quality Assurance and operational practices.
- Deliver high-quality analytical laboratory and field support services, operating the SMEP laboratory in alignment with established procedures and standards.
- Maintain safety, complaint, and operational lab facilities, offices, and stores.
- Ensure QMS compliance with ISO 17025 standards.
- Drive continuous improvement of analytical workflows via CI practices.
- Deliver accurate lab data for production monitoring, regulatory reporting, and business compliance.
- Conduct studies to enhance production performance.
- Develop and improve SOPs, staff competency, and lab resources.
- Oversee lab technical quality and provide expert consultancy.
- Lead ISO 17025 accreditation efforts, supported by Lab Supervisor.
- Manage HSSE compliance across lab facilities.
- Act as NDCR for Analytical Chemistry.
- Plan, tender, and manage contracts per company procedures.
- Support OP planning and financial tracking (Capex, OPEX, LE).
- Mentor Lab Supervisors and Technicians.
- Co-develop lab strategy with Analytical Chemistry Lead.
- Introduce and validate new analytical techniques.
- Lead and support ISO 17025 audits.
- Optimize lab equipment maintenance and replacement.
- Manage HSSE risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain strong PSC partner relationships.
- Provide sampling and analysis guidance.
- Serve as LIMS superuser and SAMM signatory.
- Adapt to dynamic operational demands and tight deadlines.
- Audit internal/external labs for compliance.
- Lead and coach lab team; available for weekend/standby duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or Applied Chemistry.
- Preferably a registered member of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM).
- With hands-on lab experience in Oil & Gas operations.
- Proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Certified ISO 17025 Lead Assessor.
- Strong prioritization and deadline management skills.
- Able to communicate Production Chemistry concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven supervisory skills with ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver tasks collaboratively.
- Experienced in hydrocarbon, water, and gas testing methods and sampling techniques.
- Knowledgeable in Product Stewardship, Product Quality, and Water/Hydrocarbon Quality Management.
- Familiar with LIMS Sample Manager; superuser experience is an advantage.
- Experience in ISO 17025-accredited lab environments is preferred.
- Capable of coaching peers on compliance-related business processes.
