- Perform Cost Accounting transaction and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on daily basis
- Execute month end close steps, quarter & year end close activities in accordance with work instructions and month end closing checklist
- Collaborate and work with Local Financial Services and other functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies across Asia Pacific and EMEA region in accordance with work instructions and SmartClose checklist.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationship with Local Services, other teams within the SSC and Center of Excellence
- Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements
- Ensure all work instructions, standard operating procedures are complied. Review and escalate local specific variances to Key Accountant/Team Lead for further assessment and discussion
- Ensure queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
- Perform troubleshooting of issues and challenges related to Cost Accounting processes
- Execute Internal Control System according to the guideline and ensure the Internal Control System documentation is in place
- Supporting Local Financial Services in terms of internal and external audit
- Support in the implementation of project initiatives rollout by Global team
- Support standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools.
- Continuously explore alternatives in driving process improvement and harmonization in areas of operation
- Undertake any ad hoc assignment, projects and migrations that may be assigned from time to time.
- Able to coach and provide guidance / solutions if there are issues faced by the Cost Accounting team on work related matters. Identify skill gap and develop upskilling training for the team.
- Perform back up duty as and when required.
- Assist in managing on boarding process and knowledge retention for the team
- The Senior Analyst will be responsible for daily/monthly KPIs for the assigned tasks and to ensure all deadlines are adhered to.
- Resolve accounting issues in consultation with the Key Accountant / Team Lead / Functional Manager.
- Holds a Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in product costing, inventory management will be an advantage.
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant working experience with at least 1 year in leadership capacity.
- Strong communications skills both verbal and written in English.
- Proficiency in languages would be an added advantage depending on the individual assignment, different language skills will be required.
- A team player, meticulous, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Knowledge and understanding of IFRS, Cost Accounting process and other accounting functions
- Computer literate and competent in Microsoft office, preferably have experience in SAP – FICO Module
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - able to identify and troubleshoot system issues.
- Candidates assigned to support the EMEA and US regions and work according to the relevant shift hours (if required)
- Exposure to manufacturing or shared service environment would be preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well both independently and in a team orientated environment
