Role Purpose To lead and manage all import and export operations across the business to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, timely deliveries, cost efficiency, and high service levels. The role requires strategic oversight of international logistics, customs clearance, trade documentation, and vendor relationships. What You&aposll Be Doing Strategic Planning and Execution Develop and execute import/export strategies aligned with business goals. Identify opportunities to optimize cost, lead time, and service quality. Monitor global trade trends and adjust strategies accordingly. Compliance and Documentation Ensure all import and export activities comply with local and international regulations (e.g., MITI, Customs, SIRIM, etc.). Oversee accurate and timely preparation of shipping documents including Bill of Lading, Packing List, COO, FTA certificates, and customs declarations. Manage regulatory audits and maintain up-to-date SOPs for trade compliance. Freight & Customs Management Work with Procurement team, Legal on negotiations and contract management with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping lines. Oversee and resolve customs issues, duty/tax disputes, and coordinate tariff classification. Ensure efficient clearance and delivery processes. Vendor & Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, government bodies, and logistics providers. Collaborate with merchandising, finance, and warehouse teams for smooth inbound and outbound flows. Monitor and improve service levels of third-party vendors. Team Leadership & Development Manage and mentor a team of import/export executives or officers. Set performance goals, conduct appraisals, and ensure continuous development of the team. Cost Control & Reporting Track and report all import/export-related costs (duties, freight, storage, etc.). Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives. Provide monthly performance reports and forecasts. Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs requirements, and INCOTERMS. Proficient in trade documentation and ERP systems.
