- Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures; work collaboratively with the Manager, Chemist, and Person-in-Charge (PIC) on GLP and 5S implementation.
- Conduct safety audits and assessments across all areas to achieve and sustain safety KPIs.
- Serve as the key representative of MSIC R&D in the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Committee and the Environmental Sub-Committee of Ansell NP Sdn. Bhd.
- Plan, develop, and maintain MSIC R&D Melaka’s building infrastructure, facilities, equipment, and related services.
- Collaborate with module and lab PICs to establish laboratory work environment requirements; coordinate with Chemists and Technicians on the storage, handling, and disposal of bulk chemicals (hazardous and non-hazardous) and chemical waste.
- Ensure a safe, well-maintained, and conducive working environment for R&D activities, supporting good housekeeping and occupational safety.
- Execute and complete project assignments as delegated by immediate superiors.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on pest control, housekeeping, repairs and maintenance, safety and security, and electrical, mechanical, and other utility services for the MSIC R&D facility.
- Compile utility expense reports and prepare Capex budget provisions for the annual financial planning cycle.
- Support Chemists and Technicians in preparing purchase requisitions (PRs) for R&D materials and services, monitor purchase order status with Ansell supply team and delivery status with suppliers, and ensure receipt of goods or services by designated personnel.
- Diploma in facility management / engineering / building services and/or related field.
- Years of practical experience supporting facilities management in a latex/medical device manufacturing or research and development setting, ensuring smooth daily operations in compliance with industry standards, especially if the education qualification is inadequate or not directly relevant.
- Good understanding of laboratory operations and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations; skilled in overseeing facility and laboratory services to support the safe and efficient execution of R&D activities.
- Basic technical proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, with the ability to support routine maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Possess good communication skill with negotiation abilities, particularly in managing external vendors and contractors for service delivery, repairs, and project implementation.
- Capable of managing day-to-day facility operations, including cost expenditure control, budgeting, and resource planning to ensure sustainable facility performance.
- Familiar with OSHA (or equivalent local standards), and experienced in applying Quality Management System principles in line with ISO 13485 and QSR Part 820 within a facility support context.
- Mature and possesses strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading and speaking the English language.
- Basic IT literacy with knowledge of facility management software and systems (e.g., basic AutoCAD); capable of presenting data and information using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to resolve problems and handle crisis situations, making key decisions with appropriate supervision or guidance.
- Skilled at multi-tasking, with good work and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
