Description: As a Manager / Senior Manager in KPMG's Corporate Tax Advisory team, you will lead multi-disciplinary advisory engagements for Malaysian and cross-border clients across diverse industries. You will manage project delivery from scoping to sign-off, develop technical positions grounded in Malaysian tax law and coach a high-performing team. The role centers on corporate tax, withholding tax, stamp duty, capital gains tax, real property gains tax and high level transfer pricing considerations. Responsibilities: Lead tax structuring for investments (inbound/outbound), reorganisations, acquisitions/disposals (share vs. asset deals), financing and profit repatriation, ensuring alignment with Malaysian Income Tax Act 1967, Companies Act 2016, relevant double tax agreements (DTAs), and OECD guidance. Perform M&A tax due diligence (buy-side/sell-side): identify red flags, quantify exposures, recommend remediation, and draft clear due diligence reports and executive summaries. Advise on Permanent Establishment (PE) risk (including construction/installation, services, dependent agent, and fixed place tests), Malaysia-source characterisation, and profit attribution. Review tax incentives (e.g., ITA, Pioneer Status, automation capex, green/strategic incentives) claims of clients/targets. Provide stamp duty advisory for instruments and transactions (share/asset transfers, real property-related instruments, intragroup restructurings), including reliefs and exemptions, and manage adjudication strategies. Assess withholding tax implications (royalties, interest, technical/management services, digital/telecom arrangements, etc), treaty relief eligibility, and documentation. Client Leadership & Delivery Own engagements end-to-end: scope, risk management, pricing, resourcing, timeline, and quality control; manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines. Develop and maintain senior client relationships; anticipate needs, shape scope, and generate follow-on advisory opportunities. Collaborate with Indirect Tax team, Transaction Services Team, Transfer Pricing, Global Mobility Services, Deal Advisory, Audit, and Legal (where applicable) to deliver integrated solutions. People & Practice Development Coach, mentor, and review work of junior team members; provide structured feedback and technical training. Contribute to knowhow: precedents, playbooks, templates, and thought leadership (alerts, client seminars, CPD sessions). Support business development: proposals, credentials, pitch materials, and public speaking where needed. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Law, Finance, Economics, or related. Professional qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA/ICAEW/CTIM/ADIT/LLB/LLM (Tax)) preferred. Manager: 5-8 years' corporate tax advisory experience; Senior Manager: 8-12+ years with proven leadership of complex, cross-border projects. Strong track record in tax structuring, due diligence, incentives, PE assessments, and stamp duty. Excellent stakeholder management, project leadership, and communication skills (written & verbal).
