This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.You can expect to be part of a diligent controllership division where you will be in a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial management and control functions across 7 legal entities, including 2 regulated entities in Malaysia. The Controller leads and coordinates a team of high performing finance and risk management professionals to ensure excellence in technical accuracy and operational delivery. This highly visible role is ultimately accountable for the integrity, quality, and timeliness of all financial reporting, compliance activities, and internal control frameworks. Provide guidance, foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.Stakeholders’ ManagementAct as a trusted advisor to senior management and business leaders on financial matters.Articulate a clear stakeholder support model designed to maintain Controllership credibility by delivering high quality support while maintaining Controller independence.Sets clear targets that take account of differing priorities of stakeholders and holds the Controllership Team accountable for the quality of support and overall stakeholder satisfaction.Build relationships with all level stakeholders, check-in periodically and intervene decisively when required. Able to articulate the current state of relationships to senior management.Build strong understanding of the business of corporate stakeholders including an understanding of their business operations, priorities, risks and challenges.Actively engages co-workers in shared service centers in Malaysia and India for day-to-day operations that ensures timely and high-quality delivery across wide range activity.OperationsOversight of the monthly close, review and ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of the entities in accordance with USGAAP and applicable local Financial Reporting Standards (Malaysia FRS).Ensure robustness and compliance with all statutory, regulatory and tax requirements in Malaysia. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and emerging accounting standards, providing guidance and recommendations to the business unit to ensure compliance and best practices.Present financial reports and compliance updates to senior management. Represent Controllership in Risk Committees.Responsible for significant accounting decisions and provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues.Manage high-quality interactions with SOX, internal, and external audits, promptly addressing queries and ensuring consistent policy application across entities. Manage the end-to-end audit process from audit planning to completion of audits.Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency.Accountable for the overall control environment. Proactively identify, own and resolve risks and issues and inform or escalate to management when appropriate.Oversee cash management, working capital optimization, dividend proposals, manage foreign exchange exposure and hedges, and banking relationships.ProjectsLead, support and coordinate mergers & acquisitions projects, systems implementation, and any other projects assigned.What you need to have:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or the equivalent is required. Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification is a must.15-20 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role within a large multinational corporation, preferably in Banking, Insurance or Insurance broking. Audit experience with Big 4 preferred.Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Malaysia Financial Reporting Standards, Malaysia tax regulations, internal controls, and risk management frameworks relevant to insurance and risk management.
