Description We are seeking a Senior Manager - Energy & Utility to lead our initiatives in the Malaysian market. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing energy and utility projects, with a focus on operational excellence and strategic growth. Responsibilities Strategic Division planning Develop comprehensive strategies and action plans for new or special projects under facilities management and energy, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water and energy. Conduct assessments and audits to identify opportunities for energy savings and renewable energy deployment for assets within the organisation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align facilities management and energy initiatives within the company and sustainability targets. Create roadmaps for the adoption of renewable energy & energy efficiency, and sustainable practices. Plan, implement, and review proposals carried out either by the internal team, by outsourced contractors, or by a partner to ensure the viability of the project. Ascertain compliance with authorities' regulations, requirements, and instructions so that the building is safe for occupancy. Ensure all relevant licenses and professional certifications are regularly renewed and updated. Business Plan and Budget Management Prepare a comprehensive division Business Plan and Yearly Budget (revenue and expenses) on time for management approval. Monitor and review the revenue and the expenditure against the approved budget and make appropriate recommendations to ensure that the yearly target is achieved. Responsible for driving operational excellence, cost savings, and environmental sustainability through innovative practices and efficient management strategies. Working with the organisation's procurement unit to develop a procurement system. Procurement and Vendor Management To work closely with the procurement department and assist with the procurement process for goods and services required for the business division's operation. To work closely and assist the procurement department to provide list of suitable vendors, contractors, suppliers, agents and consultants for the purpose of company's vendors registration. To work closely and assist the Tender/Procurement Evaluation Committee by providing technical input and recommendations to select suitable contractors, suppliers, consultants, property agents, and other vendors for the Division. FM Services and Maintenance To upkeep, repair, and optimization of existing assets (IKM Besut - solar, energy efficiency) to ensure reliability, efficiency, and longevity. Effective maintenance practices contribute to operational continuity, cost savings, and safety within facilities. Provide technical support to other divisions in the Company, such as the Property & Hospitality Division or Land Development Division, to ensure building and design efficiency and minimize company expenditure. Provide technical support to Property & Hospitality Division on areas related to the Energy Efficient initiative on assets managed by them (such as Menara Mara, LDS, and M. Mall). Monitor maintenance performance metrics (KPI) to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Report Management Analyse and review report data or a new proposal under the facilities management and energy efficiency. Following up on reports on energy efficiency performance, cost savings, and environmental impact reduction from the internal team or an outsourced party. Present findings, recommendations, and progress updates to top management, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Manpower Planning Identify and develop appropriate and comprehensive plans for manpower requirements and staff competency, and manage the planning process to ensure availability of the right number of manpower to support operational requirements and business objectives. Marketing & Promotion To raise branding awareness, attract clients and improve cross-selling within the organization's subsidiaries and other customer loyalty. Identify target industries, businesses, and decision-makers who can benefit from facilities management and energy services (e.g., government or private sectors, commercial real estate developers, healthcare facilities, industrial manufacturers and others). Investment Involves strategic allocation of financial resources to optimize facility operations, improve energy efficiency, and drive sustainability initiatives. To review periodically facilities management and energy portfolio's profitability (ROE, ROI) and marketability (exit). Proposing and finding investors in investing in energy efficiency or renewable energy upgrades can yield significant cost savings and environmental. Business Development Identifying growth opportunities and new & special projects for facilities management and energy, establishing strategic partnerships, and expanding service offerings to enhance market presence, specifically in the facilities management and energy sector Prepare RE and EE proposal (with selected partner) for submission to New Clients and for Tender submission. Lead the development and implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, such as solar PV installations and energy storage systems. Educate and train staff members on energy efficiency best practices, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability principles. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. 5-8 years of experience in the energy and utility sector, preferably in project management. Strong understanding of energy markets and utility regulations in Southeast Asia. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, PMP). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement. Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
