The Associate, Corporate Accounting is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for assigned entities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and Company’s policies.
  • Prepare half yearly and annual statutory financial statements of business units i.e. Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited (GELS) and Great Eastern Labuan Limited (GELL) ensuring full compliance with IFRS/MFRS, corporate accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare the annual consolidated financial statements for the holding company, Great Eastern Holding Company (GEH).
  • Coordinate and prepare monthly and quarterly OCBC reporting pack.
  • Coordinate and prepare half yearly GEH reporting pack.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statement for quarterly Board Audit Committee(“BAC”) meeting of the business units.
  • Support testing activities for Project Fusion One (new General Ledger implementation) and assist in other Regional Service Centre projects as assigned by team leads
  • Support sustainability reporting in accordance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) periodically to ensure consistency, accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Assist supervisor to address financial reporting matters raised by business unit’s finance team
  • Assist in external and internal audit processes, including coordination with auditors, regulators and business units’ stakeholders.
  • Assist Manager/Assistant Vice President (AVP) in any other duties as and when required.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting or professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, ICAEW) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of working experience in financial institution preferably life insurance or established audit firm.
  • Experience with outsourced or shared service finance environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in IFRS/MFRS, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Words and Power Point and financial systems and reporting tools.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
