Senior leadership role with a clear path to COO in 12-18 months. As Malaysia's second‑in‑command, the Deputy COO oversees HR, Treasury, IT, Trade Operations, ESG, Corporate Communications, and Internal Audit & Risk. The role strengthens operations, controls, and treasury management while driving strategic initiatives and leadership development. Open to all nationalities with a competitive expatriate package.
  • Oversee and coordinate HR, Treasury, IT, Trade Operations, ESG, Corporate Communications, and Internal Audit/Risk to ensure efficient, compliant and customer‑focused operations. Lead process improvements, functional innovation, and enterprise projects aligned with the 5‑Year Strategic Plan, ensuring standardised SOPs, SLAs and RACI frameworks.
  • Progressively take ownership of P&L oversight, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow optimisation. Lead liquidity and working capital management, banking relationships, FX exposure, cashflow forecasting and securing banking trade lines. Present monthly treasury/financial performance to the GM/MD/Board.
  • Ensure strong trade operations-accurate documentation, timely shipments, robust controls, and high customer service. Implement KPIs and process controls while reducing document cycle times to accelerate collections.
  • Translate the 5‑Year Strategic Plan into actionable operational initiatives. Lead and coordinate cross‑functional strategic projects in collaboration with Business Units and support functions.
  • Strengthen internal controls, compliance and enterprise risk frameworks. Work with Internal Audit to close audit findings, ensure regulatory and governance compliance, review audit plans, and support GM in Board and Investment Committee activities.
  • Lead implementation of ESG strategy and reporting. Oversee Corporate Communications to safeguard brand reputation, support stakeholder engagement and enable change communication.
  • Design organisational structures, clarify accountability, and ensure succession planning aligned with long‑term strategy. Mentor and develop leaders to build a high‑performing, future‑ready organisation.
  • Support the GM/MD in external engagements with customers, banks, regulators, community bodies and other partners, upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism.
  • Produce accurate, timely reports to support executive and Board decision‑making. Present monthly performance updates, risk assessments and recommended actions.
Fast‑track pathway to become COO within 12-18 months.Lead critical functions and impact the company's trajectory.A successful Deputy Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 20 years of progressive leadership experience in operations or functional management, including at least 5 years in a senior executive role with P&L oversight and treasury exposure.
  • Proven experience leading multiple corporate functions, ideally within a medium-to-large trading, distribution, or manufacturing organisation.
  • This includes oversight of HR, Treasury, IT, Trade Operations, ESG, Corporate Communications, and Internal Audit/Risk or similar cross-functional portfolios.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP or equivalent ERP platforms; familiarity with financial and treasury management systems is an advantage.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, particularly in treasury, working capital optimisation, and cost management.
  • Deep understanding of trade operations, including trade finance, supply chain processes, and operational risk controls.
  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively in complex or crisis situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities; comfortable using ERP data, financial models, and management reporting tools to support strategic decisions.
  • Decisive, pragmatic, change-oriented, and grounded in sound ethical judgment.
  • Proven track record in building and developing high‑performing teams, driving accountability, and implementing organisation-wide performance culture.
