Senior IT Consultant, DB/NoSQL (1 Headcount) Work Setup: Full-Time, Onsite Location: Subang Jaya About the Role We are currently growing our Digital Platforms department and looking for a skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. In this role, you will act as a key support partner to the Tech Lead DBA , primarily handling day-to-day operations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting within our critical database environments. This position focuses on the hands-on administration of mission-critical Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB systems operating in high-availability production environments. Your work will help ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance for corporate applications. You will collaborate closely with the Tech Lead DBA to manage operational tasks, resolve incidents efficiently, and continuously enhance processes to improve overall system stability and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Manage and support daily database operations , including resolving incidents, service tickets, RFCs, and user requests promptly. Perform regular database maintenance activities , ensuring backup policies are followed and recovery tests are conducted. Administer and maintain high-availability production environments for Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB. Work with large-scale database infrastructures , including installation, configuration, patching, and system upgrades. Contribute to IT projects by providing technical expertise related to database design, architecture, and implementation. Improve and automate recurring operational processes while documenting procedures and tracking issues. Conduct performance tuning and optimization (PTO) using monitoring tools and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Apply data modeling best practices to support integration, scalability, and system performance. Independently diagnose and resolve technical issues in real time, ensuring end-to-end resolution. Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members. Participate in rotational 24/7 on-call support to maintain system availability. What You Bring 9+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure design, administration, development, and implementation. Hands-on experience managing MongoDB databases in production environments . Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including cloud integration and on-premise migration projects. Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments , including administration, scripting, and integration. Familiarity with virtualization technologies . Experience in automation and scripting for routine database operations such as maintenance, monitoring, and deployments. Proven participation in IT projects as a technical contributor. Ability to work effectively in an international and collaborative environment . Strong English communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude. Highly self-motivated with strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a passion for technical excellence. Willingness to explore new technologies and support R&D and Data Science teams in adopting and integrating modern database solutions. Nice to Have Experience with PostgreSQL . Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes. Familiarity with tools like RedGate SQL Tools, SQL Sentry , or similar database management tools. Experience with backup solutions such as Avamar, Veeam, Azure Backup, or Cohesity . Exposure to Big Data, Business Intelligence (BI), or Data Science environments .
