Inspector of Works (IOW) - Electrical Project: NEG Bukit Selambau Solar Farm Location: Bukit Selambau, Kedah Reports To: Project Consultant / Project Manager Role Overview The Inspector of Works (IOW) will be stationed full-time at the NEG Bukit Selembau solar project site. The IOW is responsible for supervising, checking, and monitoring all construction and installation works carried out by the EPCC contractor. The role ensures that all civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, and quality/safety standards. The IOW will work under the appointed Consultant and provide timely updates to the project team. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily construction activities on-site, including civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical works related to the solar farm. Ensure all works comply with contract drawings, technical specifications, TNB/SEDA/authority guidelines, and international best practices. Inspect and verify quality of workmanship, materials, and equipment delivered and installed at site. Record daily progress, manpower, machinery, and weather conditions in a site diary. Witness and verify tests including pile testing, soil investigation, cable testing, commissioning, and performance ratio testing . Monitor installation of solar modules, mounting structures, inverters, transformers, and underground cabling. Report defective, non-conforming, or unsafe works immediately and follow up on rectification. Attend site meetings, inspections, and testing with the Consultant, EPCC, and Owner. Coordinate with contractors and consultants to resolve on-site technical issues. Provide weekly reports with photos and updates to Consultant and Owner's Project Manager. Monitor site progress versus project schedule and highlight risks of delay. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements. Requirements Diploma/Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Registered with BEM (Board of Engineers Malaysia)-Electrical or relevant authority (preferred). Minimum 5 years' experience in construction supervision, with at least 1-2 years in renewable energy / solar farm projects . Familiar with TNB Grid Code, NEM regulations, and utility interfacing requirements . Strong knowledge of civil works, structural works, electrical installation (LV/MV/HV), and testing & commissioning . Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications. Good communication and reporting skills, able to liaise effectively with EPCC, consultants, and stakeholders. Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently on site.
