Our Client Our client is a prominent international organisation undergoing a significant transformation in its People & Culture (P&C) function. As part of this evolution, the company is setting up a strategic Shared Services hub in Kuala Lumpur, alongside the ongoing development of an existing hub in China. The organisation is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Shared Services to lead this critical initiative. This is a confidential role based in Kuala Lumpur, offering the unique opportunity to shape and deliver a future-ready P&C service model that supports business needs across multiple geographies. Responsibilities The Head of Shared Services will be responsible for establishing and transforming the Shared Services hubs in both Kuala Lumpur and China. This individual will play a key leadership role in designing scalable processes, building capable teams, and implementing enabling technologies that align with both local requirements and global strategy. Reporting to the Group Shared Services Director, the role will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive service delivery model, ensuring operational excellence across four key pillars: Helpdesk & Operations, Payroll & Rewards Delivery, Data Management & Reporting, and Talent Acquisition and Organisation Development delivery. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of performance, including operations, budget management, resourcing, and compliance. They will be accountable for maintaining high standards in service delivery through effective planning, continuous process improvement, and the optimisation of technologies such as SuccessFactors and ServiceNow. Ensuring alignment with group P&C and business functions, the role requires strong collaboration with internal teams including P&C Business Partners, Centres of Excellence, Finance, and Technology, as well as with external stakeholders. This role demands strong leadership in managing a diverse and multicultural team of approximately 77 employees across two locations. The Head of Shared Services will be expected to drive a high-performance culture through effective coaching, talent development, and succession planning. A key focus will be on embedding a mindset of service excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organisation. Requirements The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a senior HR shared services leadership role. A strong background in establishing and transforming shared service centres across multiple geographies is essential, along with demonstrated expertise in HR technology, payroll operations, and process optimisation. Experience in digital transformation and service delivery modernisation will be highly valued. Candidates should possess a bachelor&aposs degree in Business, HR, or a related field; advanced HR certifications will be considered an advantage. Fluency in English and Chinese or Cantonese is required, as the role involves regular engagement across multiple regions. Strong project management, budget control, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills are critical.
